If I could identify as one thing on this earth – besides bread – I’d be an oreo.
And no, I’m not talking about the cheap sad knockoff ones that taste like regret and horrible decisions. I mean the branded real deal. The ones in the family pack. Real oreos.
Everyone who knows me, knows my obsession – and I mean oreo anything (ice cream, doughnuts, cake, cupcakes, men...the usual). You’ll never come over to my place and catch me without a package (or two) in the pantry.
How I feel about oreos, is how you should feel about your wardrobe: in love and obsessed.
Why is this so important?
First and foremost: you deserve it. You deserve to love what you see in the mirror. You deserve to feel confident and powerful.
You also have enough decisions in your life that stresses you out – like the types that makes you want to shave your head or jump off the Golden Gate Bridge.
According to inc.com, the average adult makes more than 35,000 decisions per day. So why decide to make 1,000 of those decisions stressing out over which pair of pants to wear with your favorite shirt?
Answer me this:
When you wake up in the morning and look in your closet to pick out something to wear: how do you feel? Stressed? Impressed? Excited? Would rather die? If it’s the latter, then we have a problem.
If you hate what you’re wearing, chances are you’ll be in a crappy mood for the rest of the day. That means you can’t show up as your best when handling business. And when you can’t handle business, you lose money. And when you lose money, you become broke. And then the next thing you know, you’re homeless, and selling newspaper on the corner all because you couldn’t wear an outfit to save your life.
All of this could’ve been avoided had you been wearing the things that you love.
Okay, so what’s the solution?
It’s simple: figure out why you hate your closet and then take the necessary steps to change it. When you love what you’re wearing, it’s like the warmest hug to your body (and ya girl LOVES hugs). Stop caring about what everyone else thinks about your style and start caring about what you think.
Are you dressing for the pleasure of yourself or your boyfriend/girlfriend? Are you dressing for everyone else because you want them to like you? Are you always second-guessing what you wear because all these blogs and influencers tell you that what you’re wearing is so last season? Or are you just lost af?
If you’re just lost, join my online membership Style Worthy Club where I help bosses like you grow in style, community, and confidence. If it’s any of the above, I have a word of advice for you:
Who cares what everyone else thinks?
You should feel unstoppable and bad AF in your clothes no matter what you wear. Find those pieces that you love – that fill you with joy – and wear the hell out of them.
